BeHeld Body Work Informed Consent

These are the details of what you can expect from me as your body worker and what I’ll expect from you as my client.

BeHeld: To be both dearly held and deeply seen.

Things to Know:

My body work mixes energy work with feel-good touch to remove blockages, improve circulation, release tension, and improve feelings of well-being and connection. I use light to medium pressure and avoid deep tissue work. This modality is meant to be a nurturing, decadent experience rather than overly painful.

I am not a licensed massage therapist. I have worked with massage therapists and an eastern healing practitioner, and I am Reiki II certified. I also have trauma-conscious training through yoga teacher, cuddle therapy, and sacred counsel training. My type of work is energy based and incorporates touch to soothe the body.

You are welcome to be anywhere from fully dressed to fully unclothed. I understand that bodies do bodily things such as pass gas, need to adjust position, or get erections, so there’s no need to feel embarrassed if things like that occur. I welcome all bodies, and things like body hair, skin tags, acne, etc are all completely fine.

We can talk or be in silence. I am an accepting, non-judgmental space, so if you need to talk about anything, I’m happy to be a caring listener. Unless I think you’ll be a danger to yourself or others, sessions are completely confidential. To protect that confidentiality, if I run into you out in the wild, I'll follow your lead. If you don't engage, I'll move along as if we don't know each other. If you come up and say hi, I'll be happy to say hi back and won't declare how I know you to anyone you may be with unless you bring it up first.

You are in control of the session. I tend to work on neck, shoulders, back, glutes, back of legs, feet, ears, face, chest, and front of legs. If you have any areas you do not want worked on, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to adjust to your needs.

I do my best work when I feel safe and respected. This lets me lower my guard and deeply sink into the work. I like to be treated like a health care provider. This means that your hands stay to yourself and that you treat me as you would a respectable doctor or chiropractor. Please keep compliments about my body or any sexual desires you may have about me to yourself.

If I get groped, hear about sexual desires about me, or experience anything else that feels too sexual, I will address it. If it continues, I will stop the session and charge for the full hour.

Liability:

While I will do everything in my power to provide a safe enough space, you are responsible for your body, belongings, and mental health. Please let me know if you have any health conditions. It is a good idea to consult your doctor to see if body work is right for you. Body work is generally safe, but if you have things like circulation issues or spinal issues, problems may occur.

You also agree that if you ingest any substances, you take on all responsibility for any effects you may experience. This includes if you decide to drive afterward. You also understand that any discussion on substances is merely for educational and harm reduction purposes only.

Notes:

Sessions last 1 hour. They cost $100. I take Venmo (@keerajoel), CashApp (@keerajoel), Paypal (hello@keerajoel.com), checks written out to BeHeld, or preferably cash at the time of the session.

You can book online at keerajoel.com/book-online. You’ll receive a confirmation email as well as a reminder email the day before.

If you need to cancel, please do so as soon as possible. For no shows, you are required to prepay for any future sessions. If you have prepaid and need to cancel, your payment will be put toward the next session. â€‹â€‹

For communication, please reach out to me via text (218.409.6010) or email (hello@keerajoel.com).

My office is at 902 E 1st St, Duluth, MN 55805 in the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum on the first level. Please use the left most side door off 9th ave, the one closest to 1st St, and come to the big room between the stairs.

There is metered parking from 8:00-5:30 on the street, and there may be a spot or two of unpaved, free parking directly behind the building above the alley. After 5:00 PM, the front row of the Gitchi Gammi Club tends to be open and free if no special events are going on.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to working with you!
